Cole, George (1)

an English Baptist minister, was born at Bodiest, Northamptonshire, Jan. 13, 1798. He was converted at the age of fifteen, joined the Wesleyans, and became a local preacher. In 1823 he united with a Baptist church in Kimbolton. He studied under his pastor, and in 1826 was ordained in Lynn, Norfolk; in 1828 became pastor in Kenilworth, in 1831 in Leamington, and in 1838 removed to Evesham, Worcestershire. In 1842 he accepted a call to the Church Street Church, Blackfriars, London. His next pastorate was in Exeter, and his last in Naunton, Gloucestershire, where he died, December 31, 1857. See (Lond.)
