Clerc (or Klerck), Henri Van

Clerc (Or Klerck), Henri Van, a Belgian historical painter, was born at Brussels in 1570, and probably studied under van Balen. He painted several large works for the churches of the Low Countries. In the Church of St. James at Brussels there is a fine picture of The Crucifixion, and in the Church of Our Lady are two admirable pictures, representing The Holy Family and The Resurrection. See Spooner, Biog. Hist. of the Fine Arts, s.v.
