Clement, John

Clement, John, a Presbyterian. minister, was born in Great Britain. On his emigration to America, his credentials were approved by the synod of Virginia, Sept. 18,1718. He received a call from Pocomoke, Va., and was ordained in June, 1719; but before a year complaint was made to the synod, and that body suspended him. On his full confession, suspension was removed, and Philadelphia Presbytery employed him to preach at Gloucester and Pillsgrove; but he was again suspended, and no further mention is made of him. See Webster, Hist. of the Presb. Church in America, 1857.
