Clemens, William

Clemens, William, a Presbyterian minister, was born it Wheeling, West Va. Sept. 1, 1821. He converted in 1843, an joined the First Presbyterian Church of Wheeling; graduated from Washington College, Washington, Pa. in 1850, and from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1853. He was licensed by the Washington Presbytery the same year, and sent as a missionary to the western coast of Africa, where. he spent-the remainder of his life. He died at sea, June 24, 1862. Mr. Clemens was a man of great humility, and was devoted to his work. See Wilson, Presb. Hist. Almanac 1863, p. 149.
