Clegg, William (2)

Clegg, William (2), an English Wesleyan minister, son of the foregoing. was born at Perth in 1814. He was educated at Woodhouse Grove School, and relinquished promising prospects as a medical student to enter the ministry, in 1838. From 1841 to 1844 he had care of an English congregation in Calais, France. When laid aside by sickness in 1851, he retired to Ventnor, Isle of Wight. He subsequently took a voyage to Australia, returning in December, 1853, and died on the 9th of the same month. He was a man of good attainments, pious, and modest.
