Claude

Claude, an ingenious French painter on glass, was born about 1468, and practiced. at Marseilles, where he enjoyed a high reputation. He was invited to Rome by the great architect Bramante to paint the windows of the Vatican; and also executed the large windows of Santa Maria del Popolo. He died there not long afterwards. See Biog.
