Clark, Edward

Clark, Edward, a Baptist minister, was born in Newport, R.I., June 6, 1739. He preached several years as a licensed minister, was ordained Aug. 18,1801, at Attleborough, Mass., but never took charge of any particular church. For the-last twenty years of his life the scene of his labors was chiefly in the towns of Framingham and Medfield. He died while On a visit to Mansfield, April 22, 1811. Mr. Clark possessed an uncommonly acute mind, and all his habits of thinking, writing, and preaching were remarkably correct. He was the author of several tracts, some of which were on baptism. See Baptist Missionary Magazine, iii, 90. (J.C.V.)
