Chipman, Tapping Reeve

Chipman, Tapping Reeve a Protestant Episcopal minister, was born at Middlebury, Vermont, February 9, 1811. In 1839 he graduated at the General Theological Seminary, and afterwards officiated in Brockport, Leroy, East Bloomfield, and Astoria, N.Y., and Christ Church, Detroit, Michigan; was rector of the Church of the Reconciliation, New York city, and finally assistant minister in St. George's parish, of the same city. He died at White Plains, N.Y., Jan. 1, 1865. He was a good classical scholar, and a zealous, conscientious pastor. See Amer Quar. Church Rev. April 1865, page 140.
