Ceroperarii

Ceroperarii are officers is the Church of Rome who have taken the place of the ancient order of acolytes. They carry the lighted tapers before the deacon, etc. The Pontifical assigns them no other duties than those of carrying the tapers, preparing the bread and wine for the sacrament, and using the thurible.
