Caswell, Edward

Caswell, Edward an English clergyman and poet was born at Yateby, in Hampshire, July 15, 1814. He was educated at Brasennose College, Oxford, ordained presbyter in 1839, in 1840 became curate of Stratford-under-Castle, in 1847 joined the Roman Catholic Church, and died January 2, 1878. Besides several prose works, he published metrical translations of many mediaeval hymns, entitled Lyra Catholica (1848), and other poetical effusions, collected in Hymns and Poems (1873).
