Cantipratenus, Thomas, a divine and philosopher of the 13th century, was a native of Brabant. He was a regular canon of St. Augustine in the monastery of Cantiropie, in the diocese of Cambray, but in 1232 quitted it for the rule of St. Dominic. He wrote several works on natural history, for which see Rose, Gen. Biog. Diet. s.v.
