Campbell, Allan Ditchfield, Dd

Campbell, Allan Ditchfield, D.D., a Presbyterian minister, was born in Lancaster, England, March 15, 1791. He emigrated to America, and settled in Baltimore, Md. He was educated at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 1815 he was licensed by the Presbytery of Philadelphia, and appointed to preach near Pittsburgh. In 1818 he was ordained at Meadville. In 1820 he removed to Tennessee, where he remained a short time, and then returned to Pittsburgh. He died Sept. 20,1861. He took an active part in all the public and ecclesiastical movements of his day, and was noted as an excellent preacher. See Wilson, Presb. Hist. Almanac, 1863, p. 139.
