Burton, Asa Dd

Burton, Asa D.D., a Congregational minister, born at Stonington, Conn., Aug. 25, 1752, graduated at Dartmouth 1777. In 1779 he was installed pastor in Thetford, where he labored with signal success until his death, May 1, 1836. He was made D.D. by Middlebury College, 1804. He published Essays on some of the first Principles of Metaphysics, Ethics, and Theology (1824, 8vo). and a number of occasional sermons. — Sprague, Annals, 2, 140.
