Burge, Lemuel

Burge, Lemuel a minister of the Protestant Episcopal Church, was born at Litchfield, Conn., in 1787. He was educated at the Episcopal Academy at Cheshire and subsequently studied under bishop Griswold of Rhode Island; was ordained deacon in 1820, and afterwards priest. -His only cure was that of the "Old Narragansett Church" at Wickford, R. I. In 1855 he removed to Brooklyn, N. Y., with impaired health, officiating occasionally as his strength permitted. He died in that city, Sept. 10, 1864. See Amer. Quar. Church Rev.
