Buckley, James (1)

an English Wesleyan minister, was born at Crampton, near Oldham, Lancashire, December 20, 1770. His parents were members of the Established Church. He united with the Methodist Church in 1785, commenced his ministry in 1791. took an active part in forming the first Wesleyan Missionary Auxiliary Society, was efected Secretary of Home Missions in 1814, became a supernumerary at Llanelly, Wales, in 1832, and died while attending the Centenary Conference at Liverpool, August 24, 1839.
