Browne, Arthur

Browne, Arthur the only Episcopalian minister in New Hampshire till after the Revolution, was born in Drogheda, Irelald, in 1699, educated at Trinity College, Dublin, and emigrated as missionary to America in 1729, becoming rector of King's Chapel in Providence, R. I., in the following year. In 1736 he removed to Portsmouth, N. H., where he labored for 37 years. He died in 1773 much lamented.-Sprague, Annals, v, 76.
