Briant, Alexander

Briant, Alexander an English controversialist, was born in Somersetshire in 1557. In 1574 he entered Hart Hall, whence he went to Rheims and thence to Douay, where lie was ordained priest. In 1579 he returned to England, and showed his zeal for Catholicism. In 1581 he was imprisoned, and in the same year executed for treason. He wrote several Letters.
