Bran (2)

Bran apparently a very common name in Ireland from the 7th to the 9th century, and used sometimes by itself, sometimes in composition, as Branbeg, Brandubh, etc. In 735 St. Bran of Lann-Eala died, according to the Four Masters, but really in 740 (Annr Tig.). At May 18 stands the festival of Bran-beg of Claenadh. This is Branius (or Bran), one of the seven sons of Cuimne.
