Boyer, Stephen

Boyer, Stephen a Presbyterian minister, was born in New Brunswick, N, J., March 18, 1783. He spent several of his early years as a merchant's clerk in Philadelphia, and graduated at Jefferson College in 1808; was licensed to preach in 1810; was stationed in Easton, Pa., in 1812; resigned his charge in 1814, and accepted a call to the Church at Columbia. He subsequently removed to York, and divided his services between the churches of York, Columbia, and Wrightsville. He was for several years teacher in York County Academy, and was an accomplished scholar and teacher. He died Nov. 10, 1847. See Sprague, Annals of the Amer. Pulpit, 3, 424.
