Bouhours, Dominique

Bouhours, Dominique a learned French Jesuit, was born at Paris in 1628. At the age of sixteen he joined his order, studied under the care of the Jesuits, and died May 27, 1702. Besides a number of works pertaining to belles-lettres, he wrote, Vie de S. Ignace (Paris, 1679): — Vie de S. Francois Xavier (ibid. 1682): Pensees Chretiennes pour les. Jour du Mois: Maxines Chretiennes. In connection with the Jesuits Tellier and Bernier he translated the New Test. from the Latin into French, which was published in 1697; latest edition in 1859.
