Boucher, Francois

Boucher, Francois a celebrated French painter and engraver, was born in Paris, Sept. 29, 1703, and studied under Francois le Moine. He died at Paris, May 3, 1770. The following are some of his etchings: Cupid Sporting; The Amiable Villager. He succeeded best in pastoral subjects. — See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.; Spooner, Biog.
