Bicknell, John

Bicknell, John an English Wesleyan minister, was born in London. He was converted at the age of fourteen, entered the ministry in 1812, retired to Chelsea, London, in 1844, and died July 7, 1878, aged ninety-two. Mr. Bicknell's judgment was sound, his diligence and punctuality unfailing. His sermons were clear, accurate, and orderly. He was "stiff, precise, clear, pointed, correct, rather prosy," says Everett, Wesl. Takings, 1, 341. He published a Sermon on the Death of Rev. Henry Taft, M.D., with an account of his life (Birmingham, 1824). See. Minutes of the British Conference, 1878, p. 50.
