Bertrand Saint bishop OF COMINGES, in Gascony, was born about the middle of the 11th century. He embraced the ecclesiastical state very early, and was made, first, archdeacon of the Church of Toulouse, and, shortly after bishop of Cominges, in which capacity he showed himself alike the physician, guide, and pastorof his flock. He restored the Church of Cominges, and, is considered the patron of the city. He also built a cloister for the clerks and canons, and gave them a rule. He died on the 15th or 16th of October, about 1126, having held the see about fifty years. His principal festival is made on the 15th of October. See Baillet, Oct. 15.
