Bertling, Karl Friedrich Theodor

Bertling, Karl Friedrich Theodor a German theologian, son of the preceding, was born at Dantzic, Nov. 6, 1754. He studied at Leipsic and Gottingen, was appointed in 1782 deacon at St. John's, in his native place, and in 1795 at St. Mary's. In 1801 he was advanced as first pastor and senior of the ministry, and in 1816 he was made member of consistory. In 1824 the University of Greifswalde honored him with the doctorate of divinity. He died June 16, 1827. Of his writings nothing seems to have been published. (B. P.)
