Bebel, Balthasar

Bebel, Balthasar, a Protestant theologian, was born at Strasburg in 1632. In 1661 he was made professor of theology at his native place; in 1662 he received the degree of doctor of divinity; and in 1686 he was called as professor and general superintendent to Wittenberg, where he died, Oct. 2, 1686. He is the author of, Antiquitates Ecclesice in 3. Prioribus post Natum Chr. Sceculis (Strasburg, 1669): — Antiqulitates in 4. Sceculo (ibid. 1679-80, 2 vols.): — Memorabilia Historice Ecclesiast.
