Basmagut

Basmagut in Hindu mythology, was an evil daemonm (Danawa). Because of the sacrifice Homa, which he made by cutting up his own body and offering the pieces to Siva, he later endowed him with the power to convert into ashes everything that he touched. But when, in love with Parvati, he sought to try his destroying power on Siva also, the latter fled to Vishnu, who assured the frightened god of his help and revenge. Vishnu appeared to Basmagut in the form of Parvati, and promised to listen to his petitions if he would learn the dance of her husband, which she danced for him. Basmagut imitated the movements of Vishnu, and the latter putting his hand on his head, Basmagut did the same, thus destroying himself.
