Bardin, Jean

Bardin, Jean, a French historical painter, was born at Montbar in 1732, and was instructed first by the elder Lagrence, but finished his studies at Rome. His picture of Christ disputing with the doctors gained him admission into the Academy of France in 1795. His subjects partake of poetry, history, and religion. He died in 1809.
