Banck, Peter Van Der

Banck, Peter van der a Flemish engraver, was born at Paris in 1549, and acquired eminence under Francis de Poilly. In 1674 he visited England, and engraved many portraits of distinguished persons intimately connected with English history. He died in 1697. The following are some of his principal religions prints: The Virgin and Infant with Elizabeth and St. John, and Christ Praying on the Mountain.
