Axtell, Anthony Dey

Axtell, Anthony Dey a Presbyterian minister, was born at Geneva, N. Y., March 5, 1834. He was educated at Williams College, Mass., and studied in the Theological Seminary at Auburn, N. Y. He was ordained by Troy Presbytery in 1864, and labored at Olean and at Laisingburgh, N. Y. He had several urgent calls to the pastorate of churches within the bounds of his own presbytery but his health was rapidly failing. He made a visit to St. Paul; Minn., but he soon became worse, and was advised by his physicians to hasten home. He died Oct. 17, 1866. See Wilson, Presb. Hist. Almanac, 1867, p. 270.
