Auer, John Gottheb, Std

Auer, John Gottheb, S.T.D., a missionary bishop of.the Protestant Episcopal Church. for Cape Palmas, Africa, and parts adjacent, resided, in 1865, in Gambier, O., and the year following removed to Philadelphia. In 1867 he was appointed. missionary to Cape Palmas; in 1870 was a missionary at Cavalho, Africa, and while in this station was elected, in 1872, bishop of the African Mission. He was- consecrated in St. John's Church, Georgetown, D. C., April 17, 1873. He died Feb. 16, 1874, aged forty-one years. See Prot. Episc. Almanac, 1875, p. 144.
