Arduino, Maestro an Italian architect and sculptor, a native of Venice, lived in the' 15th century. There is at the monastery del Carmine, of that place, a Madonna and Child, bearing the name of this artist; and it is said he laid the first foundations of the Church of San Petronio of Bologna. He has been confounded with another Arduino, beadle of the College of Medicine at Bologna, a painter and engraver upon wood, and a botanist. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
