Archisubdiacsnus

Archisubdiacsnus is a word which occurs in the canons of the Synod of Auxerre, but apparently not elsewhere. If the reading be genuine, it would appear that in some dioceses the subdeacons as well as the deacons' had their primate; but it is probable that the reading should be subarchidiaconum, which may have been another name for the officer known to some Western dioceses as secundarius, and by another title among the Greeks.
