Anastasius Cassinensis

Anastasius Cassinensis a friar of Monte-Casino, lived in the last half of the 8th century. He was librarian of pope Stephen III. He is often confounded with Anastasius the librarian, who, lived near the close of the 9th century. He is supposed to be the author of Historia de Translatione Partis Reliquiarum Sancti Benedicti et Sororis ejus Scholastice, the MS. of which is in the library of Monte-Casino. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
