Verdun, Council Of (Concilium Virdunense)

Verdun is a town of France, twenty-eight miles north of Bar-le-Duc, on the Meuse, at the head of navigation. An ecclesiastical council was held there in November, 947, by seven bishops, who confirmed Artaldus in the possession of the see of Rheims, which Hugo disputed with him. See Mansi, Concil. 9:622.
