Vallischolares

Vallischolares (scholars of the valley), an order of Romish monks collected by the scholares, or four professors of theology of Paris. They were first called scholares, but afterwards, retiring to a valley of Campania (1234), their name was changed to that by which they are now known. This society was first governed by the rule, of St. Augustine, but it is now united with the Canons Regular of St. Genevieve (q.v.). See Mosheim, Visits of the Church, bk. 3 cent. 13 pt. 2, ch. 2.
