Tropaea

Tropaea (τρόπαια), the name of churches erected in honor of martyrs, or dedicated to them. The reason of the name is found in the reported appearance of the cross to Constantine, and in the labarum on which, according to Eusebius, were inscribed the words τοῦ σταυροῦ τρόπαιον.
