Ta Gete

Ta' gete in Greek mythology, was a daughter of Atlas and Pleione, mother of Lacedoemon and Eurotas by Jupiter. She became one of the Pleiades after death. Others affirm that she was transformed into a cow by Diana, in order to escape the embraces of Jupiter. The mountain Taygetus was named after her. See Smith, Dict. of Class. Biog. and Mythol. s.v.
