Storrs, Richard Salter

Storrs, Richard Salter, a Congregational minister, was born at Mansfield, Conn., Aug. 30, 1763, and at the age of thirteen went to live with Rev. Dr. Salter, who took charge of his education. He entered Yale College in 1779 and graduated in 1783. After studying theology two years under Dr. Salter, he was licensed to preach, and on Dec. 7, 1785, was ordained pastor of the Church in Longmeadow, Conn. Here he continued his pastorate until his death, Oct.

3, 1819. He was the father of Revs. Richard and Charles Backus Storr. He published a Sermon and the installation of Rev. Stephen Williams (1800). See Sprague, Annals of the Amer. Pulpit, 2, 257.
