Sanchez, Gaspar

Sanchez, Gaspar, A learned Jesuit, was born at Cifuentes, in New Castile, about 1553. He was appointed to teach the learned languages and belles lettres in the Jesuit colleges at Oropesa, Madrid, and other places, and was at last chosen professor of divinity at Alcala. Here he spent thirteen years in commenting on the Scriptures, the result of which he published in various volumes in folio. He died in 1628.
