Sakti

Sakti, the active volition or omnipotent energy of any one of the members of the Hindu Trimurti. It may exist separately from the essence of Deity, and in such a case it is conceived to be invested with a species of personality, and to be capable of exerting an independent agency. When viewed as the cause of phenomena, or sensible appearances, it is called MAYA SEE MAYA (q.v.). The Sakti is worshipped by many Hindus, being personated by a naked female, to whom meat and wine are offered.
