Ribov, Georg Heinrich

Ribov, Georg Heinrich a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born February 8, 1703, at Lichau, Hanover, and studied theology at Halle. In 1722 he went to Bremen as teacher at the gymnasium, and in 1727 to Helmstaidt, where he commenced his academical career. In 1732 he accepted the pastorate at Quedlinburg, in 1736 was called to Gottingen, and made doctor of theology in 1737. In 1739 he was appointed professor at the university, but resigned his position in 1759 to accept a call to Hanover. Ribov died Aug. 22, 1774.
