Poulain, Nicolas

Poulain, Nicolas a Reformed theologian, was born at Mesnils, near Luneray, Seine- Inlferieure, Jan. 13, 1807. He was pastor of Nanteuil-les-Meaux in 1832, in 1833 at Havre, in 1857 at Lalusanne, and in 1862 at Luneray. Poulain died at Geneva, April 3, 1868. He published, Qu'est-ce qu'un Christianisme sans Dogmes et sans Miracle? (1863): — Reponse a Trois Lettres de M. Albert Reville (1864): — L'OEuvre des Missions Evangeliques (1867), an apologetical work of great value. See Lichtenberger, Encyclop. des Sciences Religieuses, s.v. (B.P.)
