Portiforium

Portiforium otherwise called the Pie (q.v.), is a book of rubrical directions to instruct the clergy as to the due performance of divine service and the administration of the sacraments. Sometimes, however, the word is used to signify a Breviary. This was made the title of the Breviary in England as soon as the latter title was used abroad. See Proctor, Comment. on Book of Common Prayer, p. 11. SEE PORTESSE.
