Pelaiah

Pelai'ah

[some Pelai'ah] (Heb. Pelayah' פּלָאיָה [and briefly פּלָיָה, Neh.], distinguished of Jah, i.e. Jehovah; Sept. Φαλαϊvας, Φαλαϊvα, Φελεία, etc.), the name of two Jews.

1. A Levite who aided Ezra in instructing the people (Ne 8:7). B.C. 445. He afterwards joined in the covenant with Nehemiah (Ne 10:10).

2. Son of Elioenai and a descendant of David (1Ch 3:24). B.C. post 400.
