Morel, Guillaume

Morel, Guillaume a learned French printer, noted for the valuable editions he published of the writings of distinguished ecclesiastical writers, was born at Le Tilleul, near Mortain, in 1505. He was the successor of Turnebius (1550) in the office of director of the royal printing-office, and died in 1561. Besides his editions of Greek and Latin authors (Aristotle, Strabo, Dio Chrysostomus, Cicero, etc.), he published a French translation of the treatise on the use of images approved by the seventh Nicene Council, and of John Damascenus's Treatise on Images.
