Mitchell, William Luther

Mitchell, William Luther a Presbyterian minister. was born in Maury County, Tennesee, July 11, 1828; was converted at the age of twelve; graduated in 1854, with honor, at Jefferson College, Pennsylvania, and in 1857 at Princeton Theological Seminary; was licensed in 1857 by the presbytery of Lafayette, Missouri; in 1857 and 1858 supplied the First Presbyterian Church, Burlington, Iowa; and in 1859 was ordained and installed pastor of the church at Hillsborough, Illinois, where he died, February 23, 1864. Mr. Mitchell was a minister of more than ordinary ability and attainments. As a Christian, his life was religion exemplified; as a preacher, he was earnest and instructive, and often eloquent and impressive.
