Merrill, Franklin

Merrill, Franklin a Presbyterian minister, was born in 1819. He was educated at Princeton College, studied divinity at the Princeton Theological Seminary, ald was ordained pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Hempstead, Long Island, N. Y., in 1848. In 1853 he accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, NY., and in 1858 to the Reformed Dutch Church of Schuylerville, NY., where he died, March 31, 1861. Mr. Merrill was an earnest and instructive preacher, and possessed the high art of impressing the message of God with peculiar directness and pungency. See Presb. Hist. Almanac, 1862, p. 206.
