Mangum, Adolphus Williamson, D.D.

a minister and educator of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born April 1, 1834. At the age of twenty-one he graduated from Randolph- Macon College, and, joining the North Carolina Conference in 1856, he served as pastor and chaplain until 1875, when he was elected professor of mental and moral science in the University of North Carolina, which post he occupied until his death, May 12, 1890.
