Laney, Benjamin, Dd

Laney, Benjamin, D.D., a prelate of the Church of England, was bishop of Peterborough from 1650 to 1663; was then transferred to Lincoln, where he remained until 1667, when he was transferred to the bishopric of Ely. He died about 1675. Some of his sermons were published in 1662 and 1675. He was considered a very learned divine, and of great acumen. — Allibone, Dict. of Authors, 2:1056.
