Kosegarten, Ludwig Theobald

Kosegarten, Ludwig Theobald, a German divine and poet, was born at Grevismuhlen, in Mecklenburg, Feb. 1, 1758: became rector at Wolgast in 1785; pastor at Altenkirchen in 1792, and in 1808 professor of history at the university in Greifswald; later also professor of theology, and pastor at St. James's Church in that place, and died Oct. 26,1818. He was at one time honored with the rectorate of the university. His writings belong to the domain of belles-lettres. See Koberstein, Geschichte d. deutschenz National litteratur, 3:2623 sq.
